Shibori, Japanese Thread Resist Craft Party!

What better way to spend a cold Sunday than stitching, hanging out with friends and creating and finishing a one-of-a kind scarf!?! Margaret Hluch, a local fiber artist taught us a few stitches in her extensive studies on shibori dyeing methods. She had pre dyed scarves for us to use so that we could use the dyed designs to follow a pattern for our stitching if we wanted.
We got right into the stitching since it is a time consuming but relaxing way to work.

On her sample scarf, she showed us other ways to make patterning on cloth by using clamps and wood pieces.

Once the stitching was done, we had to gather the stitches tightly to resist the dye.

Margaret had a few beautiful colors to choose from.  I loved this gorgeous indigo blue!
Check out the beautiful results!
