Needle Felting Craft Party

Last night Margaret Hluch taught us needle felting!  This is a fun class that we have done before but each time yields unique fun results!  We all brought in pieces of clothing or accessories to add the needle felting to.  Margaret had so many beautiful pieces of wool roving that it was hard to decide on colors.

We got to work with the technique and spent the two hours creating our designs.

The results are fantastic and now everyone has a cool new piece of clothing or accessory to wear!

Visual Journalling

Today was an afternoon filled with art!  Instructors, Susan Potash & her daughter Erin showed us visual journalling techniques.  They also shared with us some wonderful ideas on how to share your book and collaborate with other artists/friends/family.   We dug right into the supplies and started on our books!

Here are the finished results! I will be excited to see where this class takes these students as everyone had plans to continue with visual journalling!

Bangle & Dangle Bracelet Craft Party

Last night Stacie Spencer taught the Bangle & Dangle Craft Party!  We had a really fun group of students and everyone created a great piece of jewelry!  First we had to learn wire wrapping.  We practiced on base metal before moving onto the good stuff...

It was tricky at first to learn how to make them but once we got the hang of it, we moved onto the sterling silver wire!

So many beautiful beads to choose from.  Some people made theirs sparkly and some chose more earthy colors...
But they all turned out great!  Here are the finished results!

Encaustic Collage Craft Party!

Yesterday we had a full class for the encaustic collage craft party!  Margaret Hluch teaches this class that is always a popular one!  Encaustics is a technique of collaging and layering with hot wax.
Using photo transfers and adding fiber elements make the collage unique and personal.  The results looked great!  This class always fills up quickly so keep your eyes out for the next encaustic class if you are interested in learning this fun technique!

Soy Wax Scarf Craft Party

Last night's soy wax scarf was a very messy good time! Margaret Hluch showed us how to do the technique using a dye bath and direct dye applications!  We all went home with two finished scarves!
First we set up our frame to tightly hold the fabric while we waxed it.  Then we used stamps, utensils, brushes and tools to apply the wax to create a design!
In between the scarves we had a little time to enjoy some refreshments while our scarves were in the dye bath!
The second scarf was much messier!  After we created our wax design, we painted on our dyes.

Here is Jill Stern with her beautiful autumn colored scarf!

Margaret shows our results from our first scarf that came out of the dye bath.  I hope everyone enjoys their new fall accessories!
