Needle Felted Painting Craft Party

Last night Margaret Hluch taught the Needle Felted Painting Craft Party! Everyone brought in pictures to choose from.  There were selfies, dog pictures, and even a gnome! Margaret helped us see value and block off the various values in our pictures to give us a road map to felt!  The we transferred our pictures to felt...

Here is a finished picture of the stages from picture to value blocking to a felt piece ready for felt painting!

So many colors to choose from!  It was fun to see if people went with realistic colors- I liked the finished pieces that used crazy & fun colors!

Here are the end results and works in progress!  It was a really fun class & I loved watching the paintings take shape!

Bookmaking Craft Party

Last evening was a great class with Kim Grinev!  Kim is a jack of all trades when it comes to crafting! She taught our wet felted soaps this past summer but this class was all about the books!

Kim showed us how to create our book pages and determine the size of our book.  After we made all of our pages we bound them together with a special adhesive. Next it was time for the cover.

The hardest part was picking out the gorgeous paper to use for our cover! Kim had a great stash of handmade papers and printed papers. Here are the results!

Shibori, Japanese Thread Resist Craft Party!

What better way to spend a cold Sunday than stitching, hanging out with friends and creating and finishing a one-of-a kind scarf!?! Margaret Hluch, a local fiber artist taught us a few stitches in her extensive studies on shibori dyeing methods. She had pre dyed scarves for us to use so that we could use the dyed designs to follow a pattern for our stitching if we wanted.
We got right into the stitching since it is a time consuming but relaxing way to work.

On her sample scarf, she showed us other ways to make patterning on cloth by using clamps and wood pieces.

Once the stitching was done, we had to gather the stitches tightly to resist the dye.

Margaret had a few beautiful colors to choose from.  I loved this gorgeous indigo blue!
Check out the beautiful results!

Arm Knitting Craft Party

We held another arm knitting craft party! As always, Liz Matheny was a great teacher!  We all had a tough time casting on but once we got the hang of it we were on a roll!
It didn't take us long until we had a very long scarf!
Once the length is created and you cast off, the final step is completing the circle on the infinity scarf.

Check out the finished scarves!  They all turned out great!
