Linocut on Dictionary Page Craft Party!

It all started with this very cool dictionary.... Courtney Prahl taught a great class last night- linocuts on dictionary pages! 

 

 Courtney taught us how to transfer a design onto our carving surface.  Some people chose to trace a design and some brave creative souls drew their own design.  We learned how to safely and easily carve the blocks.

 After they were all carved, we searched the dictionary for the perfect page to hand pull our prints onto.  Cardstock and other specialty papers were also used.

 Here are the final results!  Everyone got to take home their carving so they can reuse it to make stationary or more art!

Visual Journalling

Today was an afternoon filled with art!  Instructors, Susan Potash & her daughter Erin showed us visual journalling techniques.  They also shared with us some wonderful ideas on how to share your book and collaborate with other artists/friends/family.   We dug right into the supplies and started on our books!

Here are the finished results! I will be excited to see where this class takes these students as everyone had plans to continue with visual journalling!

Gelatin Printing Craft Party!

Yesterday we played with Jello at our Gelatin Print Craft Party!  Margaret Hluch showed us a fun way to do monoprints!  We made several unique prints on fabric and paper!  Here is the "before" picture...

We got right into painting and stamping and adding textures to our gelatin plate!  Some of the students were printmakers and they just jumped right in!

 It was so exciting to pull back the fabric and paper to see the results!

 Some of us liked to get extra messy...Lori!!!

Here is the "After" picture of the table... You can tell we had a great time playing!

 After we cleaned some things up, we went around the room to see everyone's results!  It was interesting to hear about the different techniques everyone used to get their prints!

 

 

Printmaking: Oil of Wintergreen Mimosa Make & Take

Dorothea Barrick came back to teach Printmaking with Oil of Wintergreen for the second time. This class is always really fun! First we got started by learning about Dorothea and her art background. She showed us samples pieces she made using the wintergreen print
making technique.

We then tried the technique ourselves...

We had some great results!

Here are the finished pieces- ready to be framed or turned into cards or incorporated into collage!
